The Buena Vida is a free program works to prevent and/or reduce chronic disease through early identification, education, counseling, and referral of patients requiring advance care.
The program provides a health assessment, blood pleasure screening, and BMI calculation in addition to the Chem 24 Blood Test, which includes:
- Fasting Glucose
- Lipid profile (Cholesterol, Triglycerides, HDL, LDL)
- Liver Function Test (SGOT, SGPT, Protein, Albumin, Globulin, Alkaline Phosphatase, LDH, Gamma GT, Bilirubin)
- Electrolytes (Sodium, Potassium, Chloride)
- Kidney Tests (BUN, Creatinine, Uric Acid)
- Hemoglobin A1C
Counseling and referrals are provided by the Employee Health & Wellness staff within one (1) week of test.
Buena Vida is a free program for eligible City of Laredo employees who have medical benefits (available every six months). Services are provided on a daily basis at the Employee Health & Wellness clinic from Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 12 noon. Please call 956-727-6470 to set up an appointment.
